How to Decorate | How to choose a bar stool for your kitchen?
It can be difficult to choose a bar stool from the myriad of available options. Apart from the style, color and number of chairs we still need to pay attention to choose the right height.
A very short seat height and we feel misfit without being able to put our elbows on the table, a very tall chair and we will hit our knees and have troubles seating.
Below is our product guide to helping you pick the right bar stool for your space. See our video or if you prefer reading keep scrolling for the guide.
01 / Choose Between a Counter or Bar Stool
Chair stool heights are generally 18″ from floor to seat.
Counter stool heights are generally 24″-26″ inches from floor to seat.
Bar stool heights are generally 28″-30″ from floor to seat.
02 / Choose your Fabric
If you’ll use your stools where food is served consider a low-maintenance, easy to wash material, such as leather, wood or metal.
If you choose upholstered stools, choose a fabric that easily wipes clean.
03 / Choose your Style
Whether the style of your kitchen is modern or more traditional you can find how to decorate with a stool that complements the look of your space.
04 / Decide how many Stools you can fit
It’s important to provide enough space between stools for people to eat, drink and socialize without feeling too close and uncomfortable.
There are some rules of thumb to consider:
If the widest part of your stool is 16″-18″ allow between 21″ through 22″ of space per stool.
If the widest part of your stool is 19″- 22″ allow between 24″through 25″ of space per stool.
If you choose stools that swivel and/or have arms, you’ll need to add a bit more space between stools. People should be able to get in and out of their seats with ease and eat and drink without bumping elbows.
